Homemade apple juice concentrate contains only juice made from organic apples. It is the sweetener that is often used in thefoodlessprocessed recipes.
The concentration of sugar in homemade concentrate is significantly less than in commercial frozen ones. It is a subtler, gentler, yet effective sweetener.

Equipment
- a Pot with a Heavy Bottom
- a Flame Tamer (aka Heat Diffuser, Simmering Plate) is optional. The pot does not sit directly over the heat source and it is easier to adjust the cooking temperature. Some brands may be used on a smooth-top burner.
Ingredients
- Bottled Organic 100% Apple Juice. The amount is up to you. The concentrate in the photo was made with 30 ounces (887 ml) of juice. Unused concentrate may be stored in the refrigerator for quite some time. A glass container is preferable for storage.
Making the concentrate
- Pour the juice into the pot and place it on the flame tamer over medium heat. Simmer the juice until it reduces by half.
